What kind of paper should I print photos on?
It’s up to you, but we recommend the following paper types for photo prints:
- 19pt cover is our thickest coated paper option and is excellent for fine art photos
- 16pt coated or 15pt cover are great for printing photos on business cards
- 11pt cover works well for printing photos on handouts or flyers
- 8 ML photo satin is the best material for printing photos on posters
How should I format photos for printing?
We recommend the following formatting for all print-ready designs involving photos:
- Save as a .TIFF file (not lossy, ideal for professional photos)
- Use the CMYK colour space for your design instead of RGB
- Make sure your photo is at least 300 PPI

How do I make sure my photo doesn’t get cropped when printing?
To ensure your whole photo gets printed, remember to check the bleed marks and margins for your design before sending it to us. Read this guide to learn more: Preparing Print Files with Bleed and Margins in Canva.
Do you offer colour matching or proofing services for photo prints?
We make it easy to get a free proof of your design so you can make sure it will print properly before ordering more copies. Just place an order for a single unit and use the code “FREEPROOF” at checkout. We’ll send you a print of your photo on the material you’ve chosen so you can review and approve it or make changes.
Can you mount or frame my photos?
We’re printing specialists, so we don’t mount or frame photos—but as a Calgary-based business, we have strong ties to the local community and can happily recommend a shop that will help frame and mount your photo after we’ve printed it. Just email us at hello@littlerockprinting.com.

What paper type should I use for a photo booklet?
We recommend using 11pt cover for the cover of your booklet and 100# uncoated text for the paper inside. These materials have the strength and thickness to display lasting photos in detail.
