Calgary author Yvonne Kjorlien uses print to give her books a stronger presence at markets and events. Little Rock helped her step up from community markets to Calgary Expo with banners, bookmarks, postcards, posters, booklets, and creative extras that give readers another way to connect with her stories.
“I’m a self-published author and creative, slowly building a business since 2022. While I published my first book in 2011, it’s only recently that I’ve started to actively build my business and look for ways to build an audience. One of these ways is in-person sales.
Over the past couple of years, I was a vendor at community markets. This is where Little Rock Printing and I started our relationship. What did I need to make my table look professional? How could I advertise what I was selling? How could I do it on a budget?
This year, I was an artist at Calgary Expo. It was a BIG TIME level-up and LRP helped me do that. My experience with community markets helped me understand what I needed; LRP helped me get it. A banner, audiobook and ebook booklets, bookmarks, postcards, posters — I think the only thing LRP hasn’t printed for me are my books.
In addition to in-person sales, LRP also helped me offer my readers things that are a bit outside-of-the box and provide a deeper experience for the reader. This included a little journal inspired by my last book. It’s small and didn’t cost a fortune to make. For my readers, it’s a unique and exclusive item that provides another way to remember the experience of the book.
